PU Foam, Polypropylen
90x110x60 cm
This seating object, made from PU foam offcuts, addresses the challenge of recycling this widely used yet rarely reclaimed material. Found in mattresses, furniture, and vehicles, PU foam waste is mostly landfilled or incinerated due to limited recycling options. By repurposing upholstery offcuts, this project serves as a reminder to question the inadequate recycling infrastructure and highlights this issue through its filling, which represents the amount of PU foam waste generated in just ten days at the small Viennese upholstery workshop Kohlmaier.
